Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) is the easiest way to ensure your hotel’s electrical equipment is safe. From kitchen appliances like fridges and dishwashers to finishing touches in the rooms such as lamps and TVs, every electrical appliance in the hotel should be thoroughly inspected and tested.
In 2020 there were almost 20,000 accidental fires of electrical origin in the UK, of those fires 15% were caused by faulty appliances and leads (Gov.uk). Regular portable appliance testing can reduce the risk of electrical faults which could cause injury, fire and property damage.
How to Get a PAT Test Certificate
To get a PAT test certificate you’ll need to arrange a visit from an electrical engineer, to confirm all of the electrical appliances in your hotel are safe for use. The process involves:- Completing a PAT application form detailing your place of work
- Arranging the PAT test for the engineer to visit your site and check your appliances
- Fixing any issues that come out of the report
