As an experienced emergency lighting testing company, we confirm that your emergency luminaires operate when normal lighting fails, carrying out the monthly functional test and annual full-duration test, and record every fault clearly to support your fire safety duties.
Before attendance, we confirm luminaire numbers and types, system design, building use, access, test facilities and suitable testing times. A qualified and competent engineer visually inspects accessible emergency luminaires and signs, checking condition, security and cleanliness and noting obvious damage. The agreed inspection also covers units serving areas such as exits, escape routes, stairways and changes of level.
For the monthly functional test, normal lighting failure is simulated for long enough to confirm that each emergency luminaire switches to its emergency supply. For the annual full-duration test, the luminaires operate from their emergency supply for their full rated duration, commonly one or three hours depending on system design. Start and finish times are recorded, and any unit that fails to illuminate or remain lit is identified.
After testing, the normal supply is restored and indicators are checked to confirm charging has resumed. Hawkesworth provides electronic service records and certification, with asset details, locations, failures and observations recorded clearly. Urgent concerns are reported to the site contact, and remedial work can be quoted separately.
