PAT Testing (Electrical Equipment Testing )
with Hawkesworth
- Dedicated Account Manager
- Enhanced DBS-checked engineers
- Calibrated equipment on every visit
- Pass / fail clearly labelled
Hawkesworth provides nationwide commercial PAT Testing, also known as electrical equipment testing, for commercial, public-sector and multi-site organisations across the UK and Ireland. Every visit is carried out by Enhanced DBS checked, City & Guilds 2377 qualified engineers, using calibrated test equipment to check the safety of your portable appliances.
Each test starts with a visual inspection of the appliance, plug, cable and casing, checking for damage, overheating or wear. Where appropriate, our engineers then carry out electrical testing to confirm the appliance is safe to use. Every appliance is electronically recorded, labelled and clearly marked pass or fail, and any unsafe items are brought to your site contact’s attention straight away. Where possible, minor repairs, such as replacement plugs, fuses and remakes, are carried out free of charge as part of the visit, helping to keep appliances in service and reduce downtime.

The engineer was punctual, polite and really friendly. A lovely guy! (Marvin) I would recommend Hawksworth to anyone needing PAT testing carried out.
I've used Hawkesworth PAT testing services historically and always found them to be super quick and very efficient at the job. This hasn't changed, having had to request their support on some recent work and did a brilliant job as always.
We had our yearly PAT Testing completed. The operative was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend to anyone who is considering using Hawkesworth and we will definitely be using them moving forward annually.
Booked them to do PAT Testing at our offices. Operative arrived on time, and proceeded to test all appliances with minimal disruption to our staff and their workstations. Was carried out very professionaly and completed in the time scale expected.
FAQs
Questions, answered
What is PAT Testing and is it a legal requirement?
PAT Testing (portable appliance testing) checks that electrical appliances are safe to use. There’s no single law that specifically requires PAT Testing, but the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 require employers to ensure electrical equipment is safe, and regular testing helps demonstrate that you’re meeting this duty.
How often should our appliances be tested?
How often appliances should be tested depends on the type of appliance, how it’s used and the environment it’s in. We’ll agree a testing programme with you based on your risk assessment and site requirements. Some insurance policies may also require PAT Testing to be completed at specified intervals, often annually, so businesses should check the terms of their individual policy.
What happens if an appliance fails?
Hawkesworth carries out free-of-charge minor repairs, including replacement plugs, fuses and remakes. Any unsafe appliance is clearly labelled and brought to your site contact’s attention straight away.
Will every appliance receive a label and be listed on the report?
