What is a Fire Risk Assessment?
A Fire Risk Assessment identifies fire hazards in your premises, evaluates the risk to people, and records what’s in place to reduce that risk, along with any further action needed. It covers areas such as means of escape, detection, warning systems and fire-fighting equipment.
Who is responsible for having one in place?
The ‘responsible person’ for the premises, usually the employer, owner or occupier, must ensure a fire risk assessment is carried out and kept up to date under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
How often should it be reviewed?
A Fire Risk Assessment should be reviewed at least annually, or sooner if there’s a material change to the building, its use or occupancy.
